Scratch, along with Grounder, appeared in the earliest issues of the Sonic the Hedgehog comics published by Archie Comics where the two worked for Dr. He is voiced by Phil Hayes in The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Scratch appears to have been loosely based on the Clucker enemy from Sonic 2's Wing Fortress Zone, but in Sonic Spinball, he is an enemy in the third and final Bonus Stage where the player has to take out 6 Scratches and destroy the Egg Chamber. Fooled time and time again by the hedgehog, Scratch and Grounder never really stand a chance, and are mainly used for comic effect. Scratch is also easily tricked, as is Grounder Sonic would often appear in disguise, as anyone from an old lady to a pizza delivery guy. His constant failure makes Robotnik shout abuse and threaten him most of the time. Scratch seems to be the leader of the three Badniks (himself, Grounder, and Coconuts), and is marginally smarter than Grounder, making up for his lack of Grounder's assorted gadgets.ĭespite his best efforts, most of Scratch's attempts to capture Sonic and Tails end in complete failure.
